Application: GLP-1 (9–36) amide is a major circulating metabolite generated by rapid dipeptidyl peptidase IV cleavage of GLP-1 (7–36) amide. Unlike the parent incretin peptide, GLP-1 (9–36) does not stimulate insulin secretion or promote glucose clearance through classical GLP-1 receptor activity. However, it has demonstrated cardioprotective effects in rodent models, suggesting glucose-independent biological functions. GLP-1 (9–36) amide is widely used in metabolic, cardiovascular, and endocrine research to study GLP-1 peptide metabolism, non-classical incretin signaling, tissue protection, cardiometabolic regulation, and mechanisms beyond insulinotropic activity.
