CT20p is a hydrophobic peptide derived from the C-terminal region of the pro-apoptotic Bax protein. Unlike full-length Bax, CT20p displays distinct cytotoxic mechanisms by translocating to mitochondria and disrupting mitochondrial morphology and dynamics. These effects lead to actin cytoskeleton disorganization, cell detachment, and loss of viability. CT20p has been explored in cancer research as a mitochondria-targeting cytotoxic peptide and also displays antimicrobial activity through pore formation in lipid membranes. It is useful for studying mitochondrial disruption, cancer cell death, membrane pore formation, cytoskeletal collapse, and peptide-based cytotoxic mechanisms.
